La compagnie GNL Québec propose la construction d’un pipeline gazier de 750 km nommé Gazoduq, d’une usine de liquéfaction du gaz nommée Énergie Saguenay et d’un terminal maritime d’exportation par super-méthaniers. Ce vaste projet vise à exporter le gaz fossile de l’Ouest vers les marchés internationaux, en passant par l’Abitibi et le Témiscamingue, la Haute-Mauricie, le Saguenay Lac-St-Jean, le Fjord du Saguenay, le Saint-Laurent et les communautés de Matheson, Timmins et Kirkland Lake en Ontario. Le tracé proposé traverse un territoire occupé par les Premiers Peuples depuis des millénaires.
La science est claire : 80 % des réserves connues de pétrole, de charbon et de gaz doivent rester dans le sol. Nous ne pouvons pas construire de nouvelles infrastructures pour produire et consommer plus d’énergies fossiles. Le dernier rapport du GIEC nous a bien mis en garde en 2018, et depuis il nous reste dix ans tout juste pour tenter de rectifier le tir.
